Polytunnel Makeover

 24th April 2022, Polytunnel Makeover

Desi's new path looking amazing now we have dug the soil inside the polytunnel and completed the construction work.

We are using an old pallet just to store vegetable plants and flower plants that are already growing well. The polytunnel warms up lovely during the sunny weather, we just have to watch out for frost, still a possibility in England up to and including the end of May!

We have secured a long beam from the front to the back of the polytunnel, you can see above the chair. This is literally attached to the front, and the poles at the back and fastened to the table at the back near the chair. That table was recovered from the polytunnel on the new plot that was removed as we acquired it. It needed some repair work but does quite well here as a place to store tools, so the polytunnel acts as a kind of a shed as well now. All that Water stacked up on the shelf has been reclaimed via the cold frame.

The next picture (portrait orientation) gives a taller view of how this part of the polytunnel looks.

Outside… The path is now levelled and de-stoned, we have sowed the grass seed and now are looking to cover in netting: a) to prevent us walking on it (by accident), but essentially b) to keep small seed eating types such as birds away. All starting to look exactly as predicted (almost)!
