10th-13th August 2022 - Beautiful Nature, Next Wave And BBQ
The first picture is a different perspective on the Echinacea. Not one flower has finished yet as many more come along. The bees absolutely love these flowers and it is such a pretty addition to the recreation / terrace area.
It is getting difficult to crowd around the Terrace these days. The abundance of pink Mallow flowers and the Marigolds are now attempting to invade our seating area. On quite a few occasions we have elected to take the green cold box down to the allotment. Cold drinks, lunch, milk and also food for the BBQ. It does keep cool for most of the day, so it is a real godsend on these mid 30C days.
Out front, on the road, apart from the flowers which are all doing well and the passiflora making a move to dominate the whole trellis, to the left of the picture check out the clematis. As mentioned before, this was a cutting from Chris’s sister's place and that was originally from his father's garden, and now here on the allotment garden it is flourishing. Too late for flowering this year, hopefully we will see it thriving and flowering in 2023.
We were late planting the Hollyhock plant into the terrace border, and it being its first year, we didn’t expect a lot, but instead it produced a 3m tall plant, and an amazing array of large pink blooms, which were lapped up by the bees and other flying, pollen seeking insects.
Around the back of the polytunnel in one of the new boxes, our herb nursery is developing nicely. We have Dill, Coriander and some parsley here. The coriander and the dill moved swiftly to seed in the herb box, and so we will be planting these into the soil directly when ready to roll.
A portrait picture up the side of the allotment. What a beautiful day, check out that sky! This grass is a bit patchy as the path but we will get to that in due course… Not a major priority right now.
In the last picture, we are clearing some rubbish out of the way with a fire… once it is up and going properly and there are plenty of embers, a BBQ! … well it would be rude not too!
