Abundance Continues, Harvest Time

14th-16th August 2022 - Abundance Continues, Harvest Time

The Dahlia bought at a local builders' merchant (Wickes) is flourishing here in the planter. What started as a single flower has developed wonderfully into this lovely collection of exquisite pink flowers. Such an amazing addition to the "Rest and Recreation Area"!

In the polytunnel, look at that abundance of Basil next to the path, and the peppers are now galloping ahead with the production of pointy peppers. Across the other side of the polytunnel the tomatoes continue to ripen, the spring onions have been crowded out by the Marigolds which clearly thrive in these conditions. The peppers after a chequered start are now beginning to show signs of life!

On the shelf in the polytunnel a 3 year old pepper plant is still producing those tiny bird-eye chillies, they pack a real punch… Two of these in a chilli dish conjures up a very spicy meal.

Outside, the first time we have grown chillies, and they are doing remarkably well. They will turn red if given sufficient time, but Chris likes them green too.

To complete this abundance post, more produce from “The Haven”:

3 varieties of lettuce, courgette, regular tomatoes, black cherry tomatoes, basil, radish, chillies, and cucumber to complete the harvest. So much more to come but we are delighted with this abundance.
