And so as you can see the second terrace has been constructed. This one is a work area and this whole quarter is the kind of engine room of the allotment. Desi is here trying to protect the wood. It is already getting dark, yes, that is snow on the ground and the weather is turning a bit wintery. I’m not sure how long we have left here today, or whether the wood preserver is going to have time to dry.
Well Desi has done her best, we’ve cleared up the tools and it looks like we’ve probably done for today now.
There is snow on the cold frame at the far end where the water is captured. It just goes to show we’re in a cold snap down here today.
It looks very clean on the wood terrace in comparison to the road which is full of wood chip, water and very muddy. Hopefully we won’t get any people wandering onto the terrace and messing it up over the next couple of weeks as the holiday season kicks in. We have come to a kind of natural breakpoint now the terrace is done. So there will probably only be a few more visits this year, then we get stuck in to the growing list of tasks still to do!
In the last picture you can see everything looks very open, we will try to fence things off a bit before Xmas, but depends on how the weather is during the middle section of December.
