17th February is a day of preparation…
"Preparation? Why?" you might ask?
Well tonight (as the afternoon progresses) there is a pretty serious weather warning in place regarding wind. Some say the worst wind for some time, perhaps since records began…
Anyhow, I am glad what we are doing is relatively low level stuff and that we have secured the polytunnel with the raised beds, because this is why we were doing it…
Today though, making sure nothing loose is laying about, securing stuff and continuing with the plot borders.
Now in the first picture here you can see the area around the fire is now done. As per our normal lack of actual planning, we hadn’t decided whether to put wood all around each plot, but with the advent of additional wood being available (harvesting from the burnt out plot) we are now considering that as an option. Our pile of wood seems to have grown significantly as you can see.
It is only mid February and the ground has begun to dry out quite nicely, that will be on account of all this wind. With the wood surrounds, I think the “Haven” will begin to look a lot more orderly…
