18th February 2022, OMG… Devastation!
Let me start off by saying nobody was killed or injured in these pictures below…
Having been forewarned about the potential of a rather fierce wind (gale / hurricane look alike) yesterday, it was not an exaggeration, as these things often are.
Walking around the allotments (none of these pictures were from our “Haven”) but you can see the extent of the damage and thereby the wind force: 100mph winds plus even 120mph some have stated…
Suffice it to say, there is going to be plenty of repair work to be undertaken, and I should think some may be even giving up the battle. Having an allotment is no easy job. We have also faced setbacks, remember May 2021 when our polytunnel almost took off? Fortunately this year, apart from a couple of small tears, the whole thing remained pretty much intact.
