Path, Construction and Grass

12th April 2022, Path, Construction and Grass!

With the first part of the back section done, the path is now able to be completely filled in with woodchip. Desi made good this one while Chris tended to other construction tasks.

The next picture reveals the first viewing of the final chink in the compost heap jigsaw puzzle. The white plastic hidden by an altogether different style of pallet Chris took a fancy too on Richard's plot, and he kindly did a swap with me. You can also begin to see how the front (grass view) of this design will look as we have found a suitable long plank that will sit in this gap perfectly.

Next is a view from the other side of the construction activity. The planks of wood are loaded onto these support struts to give the whole thing a bit more reliance. Things are now more stable since the back wall was installed but we have had some strong winds down here, and we are in quite an exposed location.

While Chris was busy round the other side of the polytunnel Desi has been ploughing up the area where we will be sowing grass seeds. The whole area needs levelling out flat right up to the terrace before we start sowing though.

The path alongside the raised bed is looking pretty good now, we still have to finalise the bit by the tap, but having wood chip paths does save on getting muddy (it’s been rather dry of late in this spring thus far).
