30th October - 2nd November 2021, We’re going to need more wood!
The weather has been good thus far, quite a mild Autumn / Indian summer after a disappointing August.
The terrace raised bed is still flourishing with the Marigolds and Mallows still flowering and
providing oodles of colour on the allotment which is looking a bit drab at the moment. The Jerusalem Artichokes starting to flower too, a lone yellow flower adorning the growth. Will be interesting to see if there are any tubers on that this year!
I’ve been keeping warm / busy harvesting wood from a pile of pallets. It is still remarkable how long this can take, especially now my technique is pretty efficient.
A picture in the sunshine across the allotment. Still plenty to harvest, probably another month before all the trees are bereft of their leaves and the plants lose their battle again the winter weather.
Well there you have it: the wood harvesting now completed for a while, now I can get on with the new project and begin the construction. More on that in the next few pictures as things begin to take shape. We want to use the next project this side of Christmas, so better get my skates on!
