And so the lid in the middle of manufacture. The lid consists of a lot of wood, is flat, and will probably be wet for much of the winter. To be fair we don’t know how it will fair as it is soft pallet wood. We will build it and then fix it if it starts to struggle.
The plastic top has a wood frame all around and then another frame, top and bottom sandwiching the plastic all around. It’s a pretty crude method, but it is heavy, so won’t fly away and hopefully it will provide a good seal all on its own.
The wood may warp as I’ve mentioned and bend and bow so there will be maintenance of course, so we shall see how we get on… It is looking ok at the moment and with some cross members as well, it should be ok.
In the 3rd picture (above) you can see how the plastic is nestled between other bits of wood. We can’t finish it off now as we’ll have no where to put it, so for now, we press on with the rest of the box.
