The days are way too short

9th November 2021, the days are way too short…

With the weather being more varied, the cold, and the length of the days, things take a lot longer at this time of the year. Getting dark by 4:30pm already.

Now the box-like construction has extended walls. All made possible when we offered up the plastic sheet to see what the actual dimensions were and… pondering how the top is going to work, alongside with how the compost bin's end is going to pan out. That bit vitally important as you will see, but not yet planned or designed.

Another couple of perspectives of the emerging construction. One from the road (top of compost bins) and the other from the other end of the compost bins (polytunnel side).

Now the basic idea is in place and the measurements are panning out, then construction (weather permitting) should clip along. It is always a challenge getting things started as there are no guidelines and everything is being marked out for the first time.

Desi featured in this picture. Clearing out where the beans were. Putting them into the compost bin, and tidying up. Come the new year we begin construction behind the polytunnel, no idea what we are going to be doing here but…

We learnt this year that beans are exceptionally good for the soil (and other plants) as they help to fix Nitrogen in the soil, which is very necessary for good plant growth. We will be moving them next year, but not sure where yet.
